https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Q46AoR80M4

Debate Starts:

GMT 11:30 PM

EST 7:30 PM

Topic is "Happiness: Capitalism vs Marxism"

Each gets 30 minutes to make a statement.

Each gets 10 minutes to rebut the other.

Then they have Q&A.

 No.138578

I hope it will stay on youtube and Peterson won't take it down just to re-sell it on his website.

From what I've seen Peterson doesn't even know what Marxism is, or at least every time I saw him talk about the subject the impression I've got was that for him Marxism means idpol on the maximus overdrive charge where everything needs to be 100% equal.

I don't know how Zizek will handle the situation if Peterson just keeps talking about Marxism as if it were just maximum SJWism.

Peterson straight up doesn't know the first thing about Marx or Marxism. It's a complete boogey man to him. <Finally, in times when the class struggle nears the decisive hour, the progress of dissolution going on within the ruling class, in fact within the whole range of old society, assumes such a violent, glaring character, that a small section of the ruling class cuts itself adrift, and joins the revolutionary class, the class that holds the future in its hands. Just as, therefore, at an earlier period, a section of the nobility went over to the bourgeoisie, so now a portion of the bourgeoisie goes over to the proletariat, and in particular, a portion of the bourgeois ideologists, who have raised themselves to the level of comprehending theoretically the historical movement as a whole.

Well I agree with the assessment, but two things came up for me. One, how China's miraculous growth had nothing to do with the intellectual property thievery and dealings with corrupt politicians in other countries, mainly the US. Two, the phantom postmodernist marxists indeed can not be named because they are ghosts of the USSR subversion program still very much haunting the universities and more importantly being used as a corporate and personal strategy for advancement through non organic cultural outrage. Communist thought and action, in modern or post modern times, is a mechanism to enact change of power, using whatever means especially radical to achieve it– thus making a deal with the devil, blinded by ideology and throwing any and all disposal pawns/useful idiots at the problem. It has backfired, as Zizek rightly states. Peterson has been embattled with the ideologically possessed, his words, for quite some time, knows their masters, his peers and their entitled egos, but has no solution for they would never hear of it anyway. They share a common enemy, as the world does, in divisive identity politics which is basically the playbook of any Machiavellian tactics using strategist interested in weakening the culture and country or even smaller gathering of peoples to their own benefits. Chinese, Feminism, and Islam all use this tactic to gain footholdings into power yet with interesting different techniques for entry and for holding onto to it once obtained. The tactic, dishonest subversion, is not new and has been around for thousands of years, and can be put under the umbrella term of sabotage. I don't expect Peterson to understand, but I often wonder if Zizek does and willfully ignores and only hints at a unfortunate future. Anyways, that is probably too macro sociological for most here. For how many in this day and age are military strategists with psychological and historical expertise? Certainly not the common folk. Anyways, I hope the speaking engagement earned Zizek enough coin to by a handkerchief and Peterson a salted meat treat, but surely those in attendance were the true winners, coming out even more sophisticated in their intellectual identity and reinforced positions whatever they were and projected the speakers words onto.

>One, how China's miraculous growth had nothing to do with the intellectual property thievery and dealings with corrupt politicians in other countries, mainly the US.

The bigger unmentioned point regarding China is, IMHO, that even by the measures of global poverty neolibs use, eliminating China from the last 40 years' statistics completely wipes out average global gains against poverty neolibs crow about.

 No.138705

Would anyone sane accept the validity of Chinese statistics about it's own population? Once again, dishonesty is a short term solution at the cost of the soul. In that regard, Peterson is correct, a revolution based on dishonesty or dishonest tactics is not revolution but a lie to achieve the ends. A literal deal with the devil. All authoritarian governments are not worried about the crestfallen and poor and those unsure if they want to suck dick as as man or a woman, the utopia is the carrot and the stick is not just for holding the carrot. It is all tactics. The future is machinery making profits from people with no jobs– things get either really cheap or people beg their new techno masters to give back to the people. So, the great lesson in all things is to keep those without empathy out of absolute power, and to keep narcissists from telling the story of your movement towards a better world.

 No.138706

Like I said, these are from the neolibs at the IMF, World Bank, UN, CIA, etc. Obviously, points of objection to the metrics used are abundant, such as using money to measure poverty in what were (and to a substantial degree, still are) non-monetary subsistence economies, and the attribution of development to trade or market policies rather than simple technological progress:

Nah, if that were going to happen, it would've been 300 years ago. The competitive, growth-focused nature of capitalism itself means that post-scarcity is fundamentally impossible:

People get disappeared in that country, their government deals with traitors in countries they look to weaken or steal from, some of them in the IMF, World Bank, UN, CIA etc. I would not trust any stat regarding China, as the last two decades have shown their economy was to be grown with globalist hands to do the old cheap labor no regulations switcheroo.

You can not get rid of them without becoming one of them for others to get rid of. Practical solutions is behavioral awareness and critical thinking taught at an early age. Millions of children know what an NPC is and looks and speaks like– about 12 years from now the left better have a new platform not based on replacing but working within. How? I'm not talking about some hypothetical, but the historical 10x increase in productivity that happened in the first generation of the Industrial Revolution, which (if porky had been content with lower growth) would've allowed 90% of the population to be supported by the remaining 10%, or simply disposed of. But that didn't happen then for the same reason it isn't happening now, because capitalism demands maximum growth due to competitive pressure, so all 100% of workers simply continued toiling at the higher productivity.

>You can not get rid of them without becoming one of them for others to get rid of.

The goal isn't to replace porky, it's to ensure no such position of unchecked power exists to be abused in the first place.

In what universe is Zizek not a reactionary. Don't give this "Zizek is misunderstood" or "you have to listen to all of his babbeling in its entirety to get him" that's what every fucking reactionary says since time immoral. If this great philosophy doesn't want to be misunderstood hen he needs to make his politics crystal clear. But hey, that wouldn't make money, better to be the philosophical equivalent of a horoscope, let his fans read whatever the fuck they want in his writings, then collect that cash.

Lol is this leftypoo, is identity politics going to be DAJOOS for the left now. Yes it's minorities that got ground up by capitalism that destroyed the left not the sprawling intelligence apparatus. Not like there's object proof of the state dismantling the left like the just exposed "Integrity Initiative". No let's ruminate on all thee insidious PoCs whose actives boil down to " hurt white people's feelings". Can't wait for the next depression and watch 99% of you turn fash.

I been thinking about this since last night

Peterson probably believes that philosophers must come up with all their ideas by themselves and not build over other´s thought. That is why Peterson never quotes an author beside himself. And probably an unwritten objection that he has about marxism is that is is not original, he can't understand why would people follow other's thoughts instead making everything on their own out of thin air.

I'm not sure if that's quite the case, because it seems to me that Peterson hasn't really come up with anything different from other apologists of the status quo, though I suppose the obsession with brands and supposed originality is the ruling ideology. I think Peterson isn't confused that Zizek got some ideas from Marx and Hegel assuming he knows who Hegel is but that Zizek could break with those thinkers and their associates on specific points while still claiming to be building upon their work. This goes against the sacrosanct status of the brand, where such breaks would demand Zizek call himself a Zizekian and denounce Marxism as flawed in order to promote himself. I think ultimately Peterson is mad about admitting development is development rather than attempting to spin the philosophical equivalent of removing tomatoes from and putting bacon on a sandwich as a brand new idea that is totally original and has never been done before.

But what the fuck do I know, Peterson's blubbering nonsense me leave because he is such a fucking idiot.

I doubt that Peterson will be willing to go toe-to-toe with another legitimate theoretician after this. The whole time he was probably desperately wishing that he had taken Richard Wolf up on his offer for a debate instead. It was clear that he had not expected the slovenly Slovene with the nervous tic to be so obviously out of his league.

 No.140275

>>140271

Wolff might have been worse tbh. If you listen to Zizek his sophistication of thought is pretty obvious (even if it's not always coherent). Wolff knows how to keep things simple and clear, and has a bit of an infantilizing tone. Peterson talking to Zizek probably comes off to his fans like stumbling upon a hobo who happens to be a mad genius or wizard. If he had debated Wolff he'd have been curbstomped and made to look like a retarded child for every second of it.
