/leftpol/ is a left wing board. If you want to argue with /leftpol/ about not socialism, race realism, Zionism, The invisible hand, the political implications of your infidelity fetish, or any other dustbin theories, Post it in containment instead. otherwise off-topic OPs will be pruned.

-Why are there two leftypols now?

The leftypol board owner banned people for defending the Kurdish factions in the Syrian war, on the basis that they were supported by the USA and were thus tools of US imperialism. Unable to post on, and unhappy with, the moderation of leftypol, this board was created.

Peace Land Bread

This is my ideal society. Please critique it.

Peace. All wars ended. No soldier shall cross the border. No weapons or "advisors" shall cross the border. Soldiers only allowed in their designated zones, and the border. In the event of a border invasion or some far off country is throwing missiles, only immediate retaliation is allowed. No lengthy campaigns to invade, occupy lands, capturing capitals, etc.

Land. Every citizen at 18yrs of age is given a standard X amount of acres. They are the sole legal owners. Upon death, they can leave it to 1 heir, or its taken by the state to be redistributed. Only 1 property per citizen. Its a long project, but eventually all land will be neatly divided. No existing properties will be "stolen" by the state. But they will buy existing properties when they can and combine/cut up them up to create these standard acreage sizes.

Bread. Government will have the sole right to work all natural resources: mines (metals, uranium, chalk, etc) lumber, fish, water, etc and use those profits to 1. take place of taxes 2. Provide a basic income in terms of basic food requirements.

These government properties are exempt from "Land" distribution.

Radlib retard SHOCKED, did not see this coming at all

Hello everyone, upcoming eceleb vaush got butthurt that he got a strike on his youtube account for hatespeech. We've heard this story time and time again, the very dipshits who believe in deplatforming are BAMBOOZLED when they lose their platform too. If the left wants any chance to get its message out in the internet age, it cannot be handing over all the control to tech monopolies.

I've been saying this since 2015 and have been getting shit for it but fuck you I've been right this entire time. I was mocked for arguing in bad faith and secretly being a reactionary because I didn't want porky to have unilateral control over political expression. The typical woke retards who push for this stuff all too easily find themselves on the opposite end of the boot, not understanding that free speech for leftists also means free speech for rightists, as much chagrin as that may cause you.

And it's always a radlib, they always support the woke SJW crap. As the years have gone on I have less and less sympathy for these tards as they easily swing their guns towards leftists they perceive less pure than themselves (Pierre trudank vs batko being one example). We've seen the results of /leftypol/ and what powertripping mods can do, and how it can easily kill discussion.

Nazbol is the only solution.

WHy do people think Hollywood is "left wing" when it so clearly isn't?

Hey all, here is a thing that I've noticed when it comes to people critiquing any new movie, especially when it comes to things like Star Wars or Star Trek. Everyone thinks that these big corporations are pushing some king of "Left-Wing" agenda when in reality these corporations are only using liberal/feminist talking points as nothing more than a cynical marketing ploy/publicity stunt.

Why don't people ever notice this fact?

Also consider their allies. Modern forms of "Entertainment"

A healthy mind inhabits a healthy body.

Modern forms of entertainment like video games and anime are pure poison to the mind, don't be one of those youths whom get entrapped by these crap and waste literally thousands of hours on something that doesn't help you improve anything, your mind won't get sharper, your intellect won't get sharper, your body won't get healthier. It's pure capitalist poison made as escapism to keep the youth tamed and lethargic. With all the thousands of hours you waste on these crap you could've read several books, learned lots of new things, expanded your mind, met new people, made new friends and maybe even gotten a gf. But no, instead you just wasted your time on something that didn't help you achieve anything in life, oh, I've finished that gaem after several hours, yay, yeah congrats, all it did was to help you become a fucking loser IRL because while you wasted your time for nothing other people were actually doing something productive instead, you fucking moron, and by productive I don't mean wageslaving so that their porky boss could buy his 7th yacht this year, no, I mean that they were actually living during this time.

So I recommend you sell your video games, never even look at those faggy retarded chinese cartoons anymore and go outside, chase them gurls, smile, read, LIVE!

The Guardian & Vice

Am I the only one who is filled with boiling rage every time I visit liberal websites like The Guardian and Vice?

I usually enjoy reading articles at WSWS, Libcom, Counterpunch, Truthdig, etc. but eventually there is a link to either The Guardian or Vice and I make the mistake of reading several articles on those websites.

It really pisses me off that everything is "woke" and "low key" and "microagression" and faux political incorrectness like "don't be a dick, dude" and all the articles have condescending titles like "no, popular opinion that no one actually holds is wrong" or "something something apparently bad (and why that's a good thing)" and so on.

I'm pissed at the blatant anti-working class streak that permeates through those websites at the same time that they spout leftist mantras that lose all character when professed by these elitist and conformist liberals who pay lip service to anti-capitalist ideas when in fact they just turned anti-capitalism into a profitable business (cooptation).

I'm so fucking happy that both those corporations are having financial trouble and firing their staff:

But at the same time I'm sad because they used to be top-notch a decade and half ago. I'm not a fan of the "get woke go broke" belief for obvious reasons but holy shit, if anyone deserves to go broke, it's these fucking know-it-all cosmopolitan limp-wristed faggots who talk down to the alienated working class. And then these fucking "specialists" wonder why Brexit and Trump happened: it's the fake news, it's Russia, it's the trolls. They have the world at their feet, a global reach, and instead of using it to wake up the masses they alienate them by engaging in clickbait identity politics.

Who the fuck gives a single fucking fuck about the struggles of some millionaire who happens to be African-American and LGBT? The point of left-wing politics is to SMASH capitalist systems of oppression, not to invert them. /rant

Alabama governor signs nation's most restrictive anti-abortion bill into law

>(CNN) — Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey on Wednesday signed into law a controversial abortion bill that could punish doctors who perform abortions with life in prison.

>"Today, I signed into law the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, a bill that was approved by overwhelming majorities in both chambers of the Legislature," said Ivey, a Republican, in a statement. "To the bill's many supporters, this legislation stands as a powerful testament to Alabamians' deeply held belief that every life is precious and that every life is a sacred gift from God."

>The Alabama Senate passed the bill 25-6 late Tuesday night. The law only allows exceptions "to avoid a serious health risk to the unborn child's mother," for ectopic pregnancy and if the "unborn child has a lethal anomaly." Democrats re-introduced an amendment to exempt rape and incest victims, but the motion failed on an 11-21 vote.

>Ivey noted in her statement that the new law may be unenforceable due to the Supreme Court's Roe V. Wade decision that legalized abortion in all 50 states. But, the new law was passed with the aim of challenging that decision, Ivey said.

>"No matter one's personal view on abortion, we can all recognize that, at least for the short term, this bill may similarly be unenforceable," Ivey wrote. "As citizens of this great country, we must always respect the authority of the U.S. Supreme Court even when we disagree with their decisions. Many Americans, myself included, disagreed when Roe v. Wade was handed down in 1973. The sponsors of this bill believe that it is time, once again, for the U.S. Supreme Court to revisit this important matter, and they believe this act may bring about the best opportunity for this to occur."

The Norman Conquest and its Consequences

The Norman Conquest and its consequences have been a disaster for the Angle people and the human race. Had the Norman Conquest not happened, the possibility of a proto-socialist Anglo-Saxon kingdom going on a different path to a different proto-mercantilism and proto-capitalism, giving way to Socialism with Angle Characteristics might have been possible.

Before the Norman invasion, Angle women had ancient rights to own property alongside their men. We see that the Norman invasion, the spiritual Continental-Viking pollution of Angle society, created a set of historical conditions that introduced French agnatic primogeniture and thereby reduced women to property. This is the first indignity of the Norman Conquest, patriarchal feudal propertarianism eventually evolving into capitalist patriarchy - an ontologically French patriarchy governing English women and men! .

Secondly, the Norman conquest was the formalization of a proto-imperialism that forever wounded the Anglo-Saxon people's collective consciousness and distorted it forever. The Norman Conquest violently destroyed the rights of old Angle landholders. Collaborators with the Norman's were rewarded. Despite having been foreigners to the Isles just half a millennium before, their resistance of Danes and Vikings (guess what, forefathers of the Norman's!) taught Angles to resist invasion and proto-Imperialism, no matter what the coat. Yet just as an abused child grows up to become another abuser of children, by the violent subjugation of the Angle peoples paved the way for them to become modern imperialists. In the Norman Conquest, one finds the prototype of extirpation of the American natives and Indigenous Australians.

Thirdly, the Norman invasion had once again connected Angle history to the history of the Continent. Previously, the Angle evacuation of Old Anglia from climate change on the German continent had severed English historical development from the oppressive violence that was occurring on the continent, from the Holy Roman Empire's squabbles with the Papacy and from the incipient French absolutism. Just as imperialism and liberalism-capitalism need monopolies over entire continents (see the EU) to grow, so did feudalism and Roman Catholicism. This there was the eventual entrance of the French-speaking English-ignorant Crusader king Richard who ruthlessly took from his kingdom's coffers to fund proto-imperialist Crusades rather than focusing on home English development became a given.

Just by looking at the current state of the Anglosphere, one will understand the disaster of the Norman conquest. America, chief imperialist power, are a continental nation of Angles with Norman minds. New Zealand has been harried by fascist spiritual Norman Crusaders slaughtering 50 civilians. Merkel is as the Empress Matilda violating English sovereignty. Only the island nation, a Macro-Albion Australia (most proletarian of the English nations) is relatively unscathed and even then it's connections to the Norman-minded English is reducing it to a mineral colony, a Richard Lionheart's coffer for imperialism.

Everything wrong with modern Anglo societies are ultimately evils derived from the Norman Conquest. We must strive to "Deconquer" ourselves, to "Decolonise", "Denormanize" ourselves that we may be put back on the path of Angle socialism from which we were disrupted by this great evil. Down with Normanism, down with the New Normandy of America, Angles with Norman Minds!

Stop, Survive, Denormanize!

Farmers: The True Exploited

I’ve recently came to the conclusion that Marx had it all wrong. If we define exploitation as the appropriation of a surplus, and look to the most fundamental of all surpluses necessary for the very maintenance of human civilization from the dawn of agricultural onwards to present day, we arrive at the farmer. The production of surplus by the farmer allowed for the division of labor and growth of parasitic non-agricultural classes on top of it. As all other classes – including the bourgeoisie and proletariat – exploit the surpluses of farmers to even stay alive in the first place, they are exploiters and the farmer exploited. This is much more dire than the traditional view concerning surplus value. Exploitation is an inverse pyramid, with the majority brutally oppressing a civilization-sustaining agrarian producer-class.

The goal here for the liberation of this fundamental producing class is to topple the inverse pyramid, cast of the weights. And this farmer, like Atlas holding up the skin, shall return to subsistence levels, free of a world of exploitation and parasitism. Marxists ONLY look at the superstructure, never looking at the true civilization sustaining fundamentals of class-society.

Electoral Strategy

There are quite a lot of obstacles to getting genuine leftists elected to office in some places. Media blackouts to absurd ballot access laws to election fraud to voter suppression to systems that inherently generate two-party rule to outright banning of leftist political parties. At some point a Leftist needs to ask whether they should be putting time and energy at all into electoral politics when there are workplaces to organize. What should be the purpose of electoral organizing? When is it worth it to organize electorally, and what form should that strategy take?

operation bombard the headquarters

The biggest obstacle retarding development of /leftpol/ is the counter-revolutionary revisionism of the leading clique of /leftypol/

The revisionist /leftypol/ clique know the paramount importance of controlling moderation power. Ever since BO purge, she has pushed through a whole series of revisionist policies which have greatly hastened the growth of the forces of liberalism and again sharpened the struggle between the roads of socialism and capitalism. Scanning the threads over the last few months, one finds numerous examples demonstrating the generation of new bourgeois elements on a large scale and the acceleration of polarization. They are conceited, complacent, and they aimlessly discuss politics. They do not grasp their work, they are subjective and one-sided; they are careless; they do not listen to people; they are truculent and arbitrary; they force orders; they do not care about reality; they maintain blind control. They want others to read documents; the others read and they sleep; they criticize without looking at things; they criticize mistakes and blame people; they have nothing to do with mistakes; they do not discuss things; they push things aside and ignore it; they are yes men to those above them; they pretend to understand those below them, when they do not; they gesticulate; and they harbour disagreements with those on their same level. This is degenerate authoritarianism of erroneous tendencies and reaction. In the ideological, cultural and educational fields, they counterpose the bourgeois world outlook to the proletarian world outlook and try to corrupt the board with bourgeois ideology. The effects of activities of the bourgeoisie as described above, constantly breed degenerates in the ranks of the commentariat and new bourgeois intellectuals in the cultural and educational institutions and intellectual circles.

The two superpowers, /pol/ and /leftypol/, are vainly seeking world hegemony. In bullying others, the board which flaunts the label of socialism is especially vicious. A socialist board that is true to its name ought to follow the principle of internationalism, sincerely render support and assistance to other boards and help them develop traffic. But this board is doing exactly the opposite. This is additional proof that it is socialism in words and imperlism in deeds.

The Third Position boards share a common lot in the past and now face the common tasks of opposing censorship, idpol and great-board hegemonism. The imperialists, and particularly the social imperialists, are taking advantage of temporary differences among us developing boards to sow dissension and disrupt unity so as to continue their manipulation, control and sectarianism. Differences among us can very well be resolved, and should be resolved, through consultations among the parties concerned. Therefore, the foremost concern of all revolutionaries of /leftpol/ should be waging persistent struggles against the influence of revisionism and liberalism, and to that end, we, the developing boards, should not only support one another politically but also help each other economically. We are convinced that, so long as the Third Position boards and shitposters strengthen their unity, ally themselves with all forces that can be allied with and persist in a protracted struggle, they are sure to win continuous new victories.

""Anons of /leftpol/, unite and defeat the revisionists cum!""

Would there be a welfare state under pure socialism?

With that note out of the way, let me explain my question.

We technically don't need welfare anymore, we MIGHT have UBI, (which could be used to for services like Skillshare), and even if we don't we have plenty of information on how to repairs and how to cook. The main purpose of welfare is to numb the worker from doing an actual revolution to overthrow the capitalists. If we do overthrow the capitalists, would we no longer welfare or the welfare state? I ask because in order to achieve full communism, we have to make less dependent on the state (and the capitalists).

Making a One Man Blanquist International

Okay /leftpol/ I have thought of the greatest praxis ever, very much inspired by the ideas of Blanquism. So the ideas of Louis Auguste Blanqui proposes that a socialist revolution should be carried out by a relatively small group of highly organized and secretive conspirators instead of through the creation of a mass movement. I don't see a class conscious mass movement of the proletariat arising soon, especially with the serious levels of sectarianism that the left experiences. I also constantly witnesses spurs of energetic protest and temporary movements popping up, usually of radical liberal flavor, that ends up dying very quickly.

So I am here to propose my model of making your own One Man Blanquist International. Here is how it works, you have yourself as the dedicated revolutionary but you are in need of a lot of help. So make a large amount of front groups, each one represents single issues or a more palatable group of issues that the left would normally support. Each front has an incentive system where every single person within it is hired as an independent contractor who obtains commission for fundraising, recruiting (initiation fee), and selling merchandise. This is a form of astroturfing, but it helps motivate your many shills to at least do something, many groups I have seen fall into horrid inactivity. So your incentivized collaborators and puppets within their fronts become an astroturf protest block who treats every demonstration as a fundraising drive where they may get donations to benefit from. Sectarianism is minimized because your many shills and astroturfers are mostly in it for donation money they can potentially obtain, with a little bit of ideological support if possible. Your Blanquist International will act as a secret cabal of just you, maybe a few more sycophantic supporters if possible.

From there your goal is to use your astrotruf base of donation hungry supporters to vote you in positions of local power and you pass local legislation to fundraise the same front groups you run in secret, and therefore pay your astroturf base. Keep accumulating wealth until you corrupt liberal democracy from the insider and maybe someday, as this grows, start a full conspiracy to overthrow it.

>People came to her of their own accord to discover various wise secrets, and they always managed to cheat her. She knew only too well that every human approach brought with it deception and hurt.

>'I can smell the blood of a Russian' meant she could expect trouble.

>Some 'brave young hero would tell her a pack of lies, make some false promises, discover all that he needed to know, cheat her and somehow manage to slip away. She could expect neither gratitude nor honest payment.

>And every time she heard the words of a spell, every time the hut turned round on its chicken's legs, Yaga knew there was going to be trouble. And yet every time, she still stupidly believed in the honesty of the human soul:'It' s just not possible. They can't all be like that. '

I'll try not to give too many plot spoilers away, but the notorious witch of Russian folklore gets cheated by the big red Fed in the new (2019) Hellboy movie, too.

Here' s a film which has been universally panned by the critics. But is there anything that might appeal to a /leftpol/ audience?

I took myself off to an otherwise deserted screen 3 of Fulham cineworld yesterday afternoon to find out.

It's pretty funny, right from the off. Ian McShane narrates the backstory/intro in his patented "Deadwood" blend of swearing and high falutin' language.

But a few minutes further in, after a Mexican wrestling scene, there's a sudden death. The way its treated is good, its like someone I know who died. More of a "fuck, is that it?" angsty sentiment, than the usual heroic Hollywood death.

It's a visceral film. There's blood and gore throughout.Makeup and prosthetics are done well. Hellboy played by David Harbour does look demonic, like a steroided-up cross between Max Hardcore and Nacho Vidal. There's less CGI, or it's done better, than the previous hellboy movies. The leopard man moves and leaps like a feline.

The Blood Queen has a few semi - interesting lines about ushering in the apocalypse. (But you really need to look at the Marxism and Religion thread here on /leftpol/ for that.)

There's less of the (in my view overdone) Catholic free will versus predestination theme that was in the previous hellboy films.

Instead, in this iteration , Hellboy is more in the position of the pulp author Dashiell Hammett, who had been a pinkerton private cop involved in breaking IWW organised strikes, and had a bad conscience about it afterwards. He has some good lines about if we didn't kill the monsters maybe they wouldn't want to kill us. (A theme that goes back in fiction to Mary Shelley's original Frankenstein novel.) He says we kill the monsters, then what? Kill more monsters? Then what?

London scenes, in particular a chippy called "Codswallop", delighted me as a Londoner. If there isn't one in London now, there probably will be after the film.

A few nice touches hinting at the proletarian labour behind the BPRD. Sasha Lane's character hires a man with a van, or really four men in a van, to transport an unconscious Hellboy. (The secret society in the film aiming to disappear hellboy should have got her to use one of the sketchy logistics firms I've had the displeasure of working for.

Telephonist: We can't locate the package.

BPRD agent: You mean you've lost the package.

Telephonist: We haven't lost it. We just can't locate it.)

Cool music, heavy like 70's British rawk, Slade and such. Cum on feeel tha Noize. (It goes well with the Black Country accented Changeling pig man.)

In places this is a beautifully shot film. Rich colours and contrasts with light and textures.

In summary, probably not deep enough to be a repeat watcher, but worth seeing once. If you are legendary YouTuber and /leftpol/ poster Adolf Stalin, skip going to the restaurant, go with your roommate to see it. If you're more like me, it might be you and the usher.

Would there be a welfare state under pure Socialism?

When I say "pure socialism" I mean actually Socialism as in "When the worker owns the MoP" and not "when the government does stuff", because that would be Social Democracy.

Profitability vs Overproduction

What is the real cause of crises? Is it major slumps in the rate of profit on investment in which capitalists fail to find a way to recover? Is it producing too much shit and automating or cutting wage so that workers can't even buy the shit they made? Could it be both at once? Does it matter which it is?

I don't drive a car because they run on gas

But if I did, it'd run on biomass

I ride a bike, or sometimes a skateboard

So fuck off all you drivers and your yuppie whores

Sitting all day in the traffic queues

I'm a better anarchist than you

I don't eat meat; I just live on moldy chives

Or the donuts that I found in last week's dumpster dives

Look you people in that restaurant, I think you are so sad

When you could've been eating bagels like the ones that I just had

I think it is a shame all the bourgeois things you do

I'm a better anarchist than you

I don't wear leather and I like my clothes in black

And I made a really cool hammock from a moldy coffee sack

I like to hop on freight trains, I think that is so cool

It's so much funner doing this than being stuck in school

I can't believe you're wearing those brand new shiny shoes

I'm a better anarchist than you

I don't have sex and there will be no sequel

Because heterosexual relationships are inherently unequal

I'll just keep on moshing to Anti-Flag and Clash

Until there are no differences in gender, race or class

All you brainwashed breeders, you just haven't got a clue

I'm a better anarchist than you

I am not a pacifist, I like throwing bricks

And when the cops have caught me and I've taken a few licks

I always feel lucky if I get a bloody nose

'Cause I feel so militant and everybody knows

By the time the riot is all through

I'm a better anarchist than you

I don't believe in leaders; I think consensus is the key

I don't believe in stupid notions like representative democracy

Whether or not it works, I know it is the case

That only direct action can save the human race

So when I see you in your voting booths then I know it's true

I'm a better anarchist than you

Spiritual Marxism

Are there any Marxist thinkers that aren't materialists or is that a contradiction in terms? I read pic related, and I found many of the points of view interesting, particularly about alienation, but I'm not on board with the historical materialism. It's fairly obvious to me that God and the supernatural exists, though I think they are susceptible of a critique as well. Kafka's deconstruction of God's providential order in the Trial, the Castle etc is brilliant, imo, and has the virtue of not evading the problem by just rejecting the existence of God, angels etc. Are there any Marxist inspired works critiquing religion without rejecting the basic assumptions (e.g. God exists, supernatural realms exist, spiritual discipline are efficacious etc)? Let's say, for example, a critique of God, but one that accepts he exists.

I'm not very well schooled in leftist thought, so please be patient with me -__-

Xennial Menace

What if I told you that the alt-right and other pop-rightist ideologies are NOT ZOOMERS BUT XENNIALS (born 1975 - 1985)?

Who are the guys that always whine about anime and video games bc "muh stunted brain development"?

Generation X.

Who are the ones always self-diagnosing after listening to urban myths about correlations between hobbies and androgen inhibition ( such as: the soyboy menace)? Generation X

I notice in real life that men (and women) born in the 70s and 80s are fascinated with tragedy and conflict and hate anything bright/happy/catchy. They also seem to be movie junkies.

Gen X and their chronological kin, Xennials are the ones who think women are defective creatures that shouldn't be allowed to piss without telling hubby let alone vote.

They are the ones running podcasts, bullying the younger generations for not enjoying "manly stuff" (such as punk and cult movies).

They are the ones parroting on about "masculinity" like it's a fucking fashion trend.

> muh anime steal manliness

>muh vidya game steal manliness

> real men drink (obscure brewery brand here)

>" (insert recent hobby trend) is for hipsters therefore not manly"

Oh and lets not forget about "muh fatherhood." They think that all home problems are bc of single moms. They overlook if not justify shitty fathers. They don't care about fathers really. They just want to keep anyone with a penis in the seat of power.

They are the adult versions of the stereotypical school jocks. They haven't grown out their insecurity so now their inner adolescence is reeking.

Xennials are the main demographic of doomer and r9k. In fact, the chans in general are dominated by these jocks alone. Especially with their constant blaming zoomers for all things wrong.

LGBT is not left. It's that simple. Their fight for (seemingly) equal rights (while homosexualists and heterosexuals have had equal rights for a long time) is a fight with an imaginary enemy, which is profitable for… Who? Right, the bourgeoisie. In short, LGBT is a tool in the hands of the bourgeoisie. THEIR STRUGGLE is a sex one, a gender one, doesn't matter, but it's not CLASS STRUGGLE. I personally have not seen demands to improve worker conditions and worker solidarity on LGBT events. No, they fucking want the equal rights that they already have. As for me, I don't care whether a person is gay or not. If he fights for worker rights and his struggle is a CLASS one, I will respect him regardless of sexual orientation

What is the main argument for "they/them" as a singular pronoun

"you" originally referred to a group of people OR a single elite

Very simply, we must refer to individuals who are Proletarian using the term "thou" which was, at one point in time, a politically incorrect form of address. ( In fact, it was SJWs who eradicated thou from our lexicon.) This is similar to how the queers reclaimed the word queer. Using the term "Thou" to refer to a fellow proletariat is a double-blow against the radical liberals in our movement : it is a class-aware pronoun with historical support and thus is an infinitely more accessible linguistic construct than "ally" or "comrade" to refer to the in group, and it is a subtle affront against the tricksters trying to pervert everyone into becoming a "them"

Cultural Marxism

I am not a left-leaning person at all, but I am here to ask about something.

After yesterday's Zizek vs JP debate, Zizek mentioned how there is no influence of cultural Marxism in the contemporary world. This got me thinking, what is it that we are observing right now of PC culture then if Zizek thinks it is not cultural Marxism?

A quick Google search says that cultural Marxism is a revolutionary leftist idea that traditional culture is the source of oppression in the modern world, which seems to be inline of what the right describes as leftists creating a parallel of class warfare in identity politics. However, I found this to be very one-sided, so that's why I am here to ask you guys, what do you believe cultural Marxism is? How influential is it in the modern world? How does it relate to individual freedoms? Do you even think individual freedom like freedom of speech to be necessary? I define freedom of speech as having no legal consequences from speech, with the opposite being any form of a secular or not version of blasphemy laws.

I know that cultural Marxism has nothing to do with the concept of class warfare that Marx expresses, but the reason Marxism is linked is because of how it mirrors the class warfare struggle with expressing culture as oppressed vs oppressor.

John Maus

>Synth-pop musician John Maus has an agenda. He is knowledgeable about experimental classical music (Arnold Schoenberg, John Cage etc.) but is also steeped in continental philosophy. His decision to work in the pop-music idiom is informed by his philosophical training: “I take seriously this claim of Gilles Deleuze… that perhaps it’s our task as artists to make intensive use of a major language.” Maus considers pop to be both a major language and something of a singularity within music history because it for the most part does without thematic development and major/minor tonality- the staples of western music, which is to say that now both “experimental” music and pop music have cast aside musical conventions and, as such, either might be an exemplary idiom for a political radical to be working within. A great pop performance leads to a sense of atavistic recognition between audience and performer, while experimental music becomes a contest in elitist one-upsmanship. In other words if you want to express yourself, write a three chord anthem, not a twelve-tone row. I’m not persuaded by this argument, partially for the same reason as milo: it disregards black music.

>When John Maus talks about experimental music and conflates it with elitism, he is speaking exclusively about white classical composers. Avant-Garde jazz groups like the Art Ensemble of Chicago and the Sun Ra Arkestra are coming from a similar place as Maus but create better, more politically dangerous music; his argument seems to hinge upon an ignorance of experimental black musicians. Both the Art Ensemble and the Arkestra play music that expresses black consciousness and identity, and the volatility therein. The Art Ensemble’s catch phrase is “Ancient to the Future”; often on stage some members would wear tribal war paint while trumpeter Lester Bowie wore a lab coat. Their work contains the entire spectrum of African Diaspora musics, rock elements and the clatter of found percussion instruments, all subservient to the purgatorial wail of the blues. This melting pot aesthetic doesn’t lead to an atavistic music, where distinctions between white and black experience fall away. The breaking down of musical and cultural boundaries in search of an underlying unity ends with the abortive and sneering conclusion that existence itself is a boundary; the Art Ensemble’s mastery of jazz, classical, rhythm & blues and Caribbean styles expresses with claustrophobic intensity the terror of black American experience in the present (I’m writing primarily about the Ensemble’s hey-day in the 70’s and 80’s).

>During Ra’s lifetime, Arkestra (an approximation of the ebonic pronunciation of ‘orchestra’) members lived together, abandoning their families in order to pursue music. Sun Ra was a radical and a futurist (he was one of the very early proponents of synthesizers), a man of the people and a recluse. He was very much aware that he was considered a novelty by many music fans, but was apathetic towards his reception. His music often implored people, black people in particular, to face the realities of their situation; he demanded this but deflected questions of progress and action because he was just a concerned interstellar agent. Like the Art Ensemble, the Sun Ra Arkestra’s wild sound reproduced the crisis of black identity. Whereas John Maus makes use of a “major language”- pop music- in order to be seen, Sun Ra and the Art Ensemble make vigorous use of experimental languages in order to give life’s ambiguity and distortion full scope.

Genuine question I think everyone should ask themselves.

honestly western leftists are too sperged out and individualized to ever coalesce as a relevant political force, everyone is focused on cultivating their very own very special political identity and discussing retarded ideological bullshit with each other to even fight back against the right.

Even here and in the other board most of you faggots are nothing but quasi-reformed /pol/yps who can't spend 5 minutes without arguing about whether or not you should kill all trannies/blacks/browns because for some retarded reason or another you cannot fathom existing at the same time or place than someone who is vaguely different than you. Hell there's even a chunk of you who won't believe anything about climate change until you're dying from heatstroke, freezing to death, starving or drowned within a decade or two.

Out there everyone is mostly just backwards liberals and traditionalists who have most definitely lost their minds, normies who literally can't see shit beyond what's in front of them and are unable to think about anything but basic normie shit and fringe bullshit like anti vaxxers.

Is society just too far gone to ever recover? even if we somehow magically manage not to get sent back to the stone age by climate catastrophe in the next few decades and we actually manage to get a revolution off the ground, is there anything still worth saving?

What the fuck happened?

My god what a disappointment image boards have become. I've seen a lot. From telling Tom Green to do a barrel roll to Hal Turner raids to Scientology to all the cross-board wars to /b/-day to 7chan and a zillion other failed alternatives, and eventually to gamergate and finally 8ch. I really thought 8ch would be different this time. Finally, a large enough community picked up its collective spine to form a sustainable alternative to 4chan. And then what happened? A flock of newfags seized administrative control of most of the major topical boards, and slowly transformed themselves into the exact corrupt, narcissistic, censorious pieces of shit that everyone left 4chan to escape in the first place. Did their communities have the courage to move once again to other boards when this became apparent? Almost never enough to make lasting alternatives.

I spend most of my time talking about video games, and it is absolutely astounding to me how 8/v/'s owner became the spitting image of moot, and then administration on the next biggest alternative /vg/ morphed into the same damn thing. Some alternative? If you looked at their attitudes and posting styles without any context you would hardly be able to tell them apart. I've always been hostile to the idea of a "lefty" themed video game board, but at the moment I really fucking want another alternative. /tech/, /animu/, and this board here are practically the only boards on this fucking shithole community where I don't feel like making a new thread is hopeless or pointless because the mods are actively hostile.

Sorry if this thread is pretty meta and not entirely related to leftism, but I frankly feel like this is one of the few places on this entire website with a decent population of sympathetic oldfags. The community across most of this site has become utterly servile and docile when it comes to cretinous, self-serving mod corruption, and most of those who actually cared have long since left.

Anonymous discussion forums have a prophecy to fulfill. We were told we had found the holy grail of debating venues: a format where people can truly express themselves freely and arguments would be considered on their own merits. A venue where collective mental abilities can come together and get closer to the truth, where the apprehensions of taboo and identity do not stifle progress, where everyone is free to speak their minds. When is this damn prophecy going to come true?

Pic related, that's fucking me. 33 years old with gray hair, I've been using image boards for something like 14 years, I've been struggling to find, support, and foster image board communities that address the corruption and problems of other communities for most of that time. And I am fucking tired.

I do not justify the system but there is something to be learned here. After all, a feminist woman can be made traditional if she is just fucked right. It is on men to be men enough to do so.

Women need an anchor, this will either be a man or a large group of friends, they will either be women or gay men. But a woman cannot reproduce with women or gay men. So when men are not strong and stable they fail society in a way that's not true for women.

So looking back I've noticed that kids media in the 80's and 90's did a horrible job explaining the causes of environmental denegation. The polluters in such media tend to do so because they are evil with a poor link between pollution and capitalism. That our consumeristic society drives the production of short lived products that quickly end up as garbage and profit motives encourages capitalists to cut corners in production and distribution. You also had this idyllic primitivism giving this false dichotomy of pre-industrial society or a polluted hell work.

Which leaves us with current kids media that seems to just ignore the problem all together, focusing more on encouraging kids to consume.

Determinism is rooted in a metaphysics that says humans are not fundamentally

different from anything else in the universe. This metaphysics is one most of

share in common as ``children these days are nearly born empiricists'';

however, the implications of this metaphysics are rarely fully accepted.

Determinism is the view that like everything else human-beings' actions are

causally determined, that it's impossible for us to truly freely just as it's

impossible for us to make a machine that can violate causation. We are

fundamentally machines which accept a history, a biology, and a environment,

and return a action.

Many respond to this by redefining freedom. They say that freedom isn't the

ability to act freely but rather to not be effected by outside forces. What

makes outside forces so much less coercive than internal forces though? If I'm

mandated to do something one way or another why does it matter who or what

mandates it? Can moralities and politics of pure unjustified freedom exist

along with Determinism?

What are your thoughts?

Is a violent revolution necessary?

What’s wrong with gradualism? Should we just take Marx and Lenin’s word for it? I understand the argument that any sort of liberal ideas are co-opted by capitalism and incorporated into the master class’s system, but do you not agree that there are strains in American liberalism that satisfy leftist leanings? For instance, the constitution right now ensures, with the help of organizations like the ACLU (pre-gun ban red fascism), the existence of certain individual liberties such as freedom of speech and right to due process among others.

If there were a violent revolution do you really think modern leftists, even the espoused Marxists, would retain these laws? They already want to destroy the electoral college, scrap the second amendment and appoint former cops (Kamala Harris) as your elected officials! I don’t think any revolution beyond a small d democratic revolution within the existing system will work. Bernie Sanders has the right idea working through the Democratic Party to change it fundamentally toward socialism. The progress has been rapid - in fact probably more rapid than any sort of organized extrajudicial revolution even could be. However, the question with him is whether he and his acolytes will conserve basic freedoms?

Right now conservatards have the upper hand when it comes to the insistence of individual liberty, but don’t think I believe this is always the case. I remember the smarmy Christian faggots from both Bush administrations who would like to pass obscenity laws if they could. Anyway, do you think the Democratic Party can be an appropriate vessel for political change? Why or why not?

Environmentalism is idpol and fascism

Can we just fucking ban the retards who give a shit about the environment and caring for animals? Nature doesn’t matter, it’s the remnant of another age. Capitalism must reach its fullest potential before the revolution. Nature must not stand in its way, technology will fix any problems that arise. Wanting to return to an eco-utopia is reactionary fascism over an idealized past. We must follow the path of the Jews until the revolution is ripe and the planet devastated. No völkisch masturbation fantasies about “MUH NATURE”. This is a human world and animals and other assorted human subspecies are just along for the ride

Females and Communism

A woman cannot even understand the greater points of Marxist thought. They remain eternally a big child suitable only for caring for children, cooking and cleaning and concerning themselves fully and only with the now. The future and past never enter their simplistic minds. Capitalism and consumerism is the realm of femalekind. They simply cannot comprehend the complexities of historical materialism and the change from one organization of society to another. It’s just how the female’s brain works. Women will never get us to communism. Women were the biggest voters for the Nazis in Weimar. The Dictatorship of the proletariat must take their right to vote for the good of humanity and put them to work breeding a new generation of workers to construct socialism. Consider the means of reproduction seized and equitably distributed amongst mankind. The female is safe, in her element and protected by her male guardians in the construction of a future free from exploitation

Man, I used to think there was a way to reconcile my religious practice with being a fuck-you egoist but I'm having a tough time wrasslin with some of these concepts and I cannot come to any real answers anymore

Like, we often see the pics of stirn on lao tzu, dr bones tries to blend them &c but they're actually really opposed. The dao de ching promotes unselfishness, and that feels right when I read it, but Stirner says, no I'm going to be fucking selfish!

I think ultimately the big chasm for me personally is between Yoga philosophy and Egoism. No matter how far you go, the immortality that is promoted in the Vedas is based off of satyam(Truth) and rtam(Right), and Stirner just shits on it and says fuck it man are you retarded the only Right is in might and if you don't see that then you're only fooling yourself. I mean, from one angle it's like the Dwarf that Nataraj Shiva is dancing on just gets up and installs himself on the altar as the highest. On the other hand it just is the play of the ego to try to assert itself in place of the (higher functions of the frontal lobes). I think RAW bridges the gap the best, because he draws from Stirner but also Tim Leary who learned tantra from a real Indian baba.

tldr what is truth, right, reality

SocDems are the real accelerationists. The goal of socdem policies is to raise the price of labor, to make sure that capitalists pay workers more, while maintaining capitalism. The President of the United States of America is reputed to be the most powerful man in the world.

But he also has the most powerful institutions advising/lobbying/attacking him: CIA, FBI, Pentagon, Federal Reserve, MSM, Congress.

USA spends more on its military than the next biggest 20 countries spend collectively.

USA has many allies who are not really happy to be allies, but agree to it anyway because they are relatively weak and want to be protected by a strong friend.

USA regards any country who is not an ally as an enemy.

They do everything in their power to make life difficult for them: sanctions, currency manipulation, funding organised opposition, spying, surveilling internet communications, regime change, cyber-attacks, and military invasion.

Their leaders are constantly described as mad, cruel, dictators, state-terrorists and socialists or communists, regardless of the reality of the situation.

Although democratic and a republic, the USA behaves exactly like an Empire does. It considers its empire to be the whole world.

Both major political parties endorse these imperialistic ambitions, as do all its powerful institutions.

While the USA claims to champion "Freedom and Democracy", it has the largest prison population per capita of any country, and at the elections in 2016 only 55.7% of the electorate voted.

The Electoral College system meant that in 2016, Donald Trump won the Presidency despite only polling 46.1% of the votes, nearly 3 million votes fewer than his rival, Hillary Clinton.

While the two-party system still reigns and the status quo remains, i propose that all of us who wish for radical change swear to ourselves that we will not fight each-other until the current political conditions are demolished.

Communists, Nazis, AnCaps, we should try to abolish the current state of things before we destroy each-other. If the current state of things is abolished, war will be easier to wage among ourselves, freeing us from our own inaction!

Of course, such a promise won't mean anything, but i'm simply sick of the status quo, i think we all are. If you hate neoliberals and neoconservatives, i want you to promise to yourself right now that you will not harm other radical elements of society until the current social conditions allow for war again. After that, may the best ideology win.

How do I deradicalize?

I've been wanting to deradicalize a bit from the far right and spend some time on the other side of the creek, but then I come over here and you faggots post like once every 3 hours. Christ on a bike this shit is slow.

Anyway, caught myself saying nigger out loud spontaneously in a crowded place (I was at fucking MEPS of all places). Don't think anyone noticed but it made me realize I need to cool off before I potentially ruin my life and career from my /pol/ speaking habits. Though there are aspects of civic and ethnonationalism that I can't really shake and that I haven't found really addressed in the limited leftist youtubers I've been exposed to in my efforts to balance out.

The main thing is European culture, identifying with that history and heritage, and the desire to preserve it, at least the good parts. Capitalism is dogshit in soooooo many fucking ways, but there are huge portions of western culture that I think are good and not invulnerable to change or regression. In their attempts to debunk replacement migration in western countries, the two tubers I've seen (shaun and three arrows) largely just shrug off any sense of western culture or identity, as if it's not at risk at all and never could be ever. And yet such people are perfectly capable of seeing how it is endangered through some sort of fascist uprising by far right people, but a country's population becoming predominantly another ethnicity or cultural background they just don't even seem to consider that that could be the same kind of threat. The whole notion of national identity, or really any identity past the individual, seems to be almost comical to the left. Shaun shows a picture of a group of muslim girls waving the german flag and is just like, "a bunch of children waving the german flag, don't see what's so scary" or something. BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT FUCKING GERMAN. Connection to and reverence for a culture and country goes deeper than waving a fucking flag or speaking the language. This kind of ignorance and seeming contempt for people identifying with their culture, nation, or ethnicity is one of the major obstacles for me in coming back towards the left in any way.

How should I work around this or move forward? My identity with my culture and ancestry is not something I can shrug off. It's like that old zen saying, "glimpsed once and forever." I can't fucking unsee it. And yet it just creates huge pain and anxiety for me because, NO SHIT, things change, and are changing, and that can not be stopped.

Reparations for the Black and Native American communities

As a black man, I know that socialism should be able to solve all the problems that keep our races divided but we until that time comes this question always seems to keep coming up.

I actually don't think a blank check would solve the problem for all disparity because the system that fucked us would literally receive the money back 90% of the time. It is all pointless unless we received resources, or means of production or property.

I think because of capitalism, the majority of Black Americans are lead to think as long as black celebrities or black billionaires are getting richer, they benefit from it too. Which is never the case. Reparations is a difficult thing to ask for because I feel the government wouldn't allow the receivers of this to do whatever they please with those funds due to how large scale reparations would be.

These are just my beginning thoughts. Feel free to discuss and I'll chime in from time to time.

In 1934,, Himmler set stringent requirements for recruits. They were to be German nationals who could prove their Aryan ancestry back to 1800, unmarried, and without a criminal record.[20] A four-year commitment was required for the SS-VT and LSSAH. Recruits had to be between the ages of 17 and 23, at least 1.74 metres (5 ft 9 in) tall (1.78 metres (5 ft 10 in) for the LSSAH). Concentration camp guards had to make a one-year commitment, be between the ages of 16 and 23, and at least 1.72 metres (5 ft 8 in) tall. All recruits were required to have 20/20 eyesight, no dental fillings, and to provide a medical

certificate.[21] By 1938, the height restrictions were relaxed, up to six dental fillings were permitted, and eyeglasses for astigmatism and mild vision correction were allowed. Once the war commenced, the physical requirements were no longer strictly enforced, and essentially any recruit who could pass a basic medical exam was considered for service.[22] Members of the SS could be of any religion except Judaism (Jewish), but atheists were not allowed according to Himmler in 1937.[23]

In other words, you could have literally been a balding manlet currycel or kebabcel living in Germany in 1938 and you would have qualified to be part of the elite SS "master race".
