Welcome to /fast/, 8chan's Sonic the Hedgehog discussion board.

>What is this place?

This place was created in the 2014 4chan exodus to serve as a place for anons of 4chan's Sonic the Hedgehog General (/sthg/) to migrate to. Back then it didn't have a lot of success, so it remained as a backup place for /sthg/ in times of 4chan outages. Right now some of us are trying to repurpose it into an alternative to the original general.

Since we're currently few here, we're mostly staying in a general thread where everything goes to make the posting seem faster (instead of having many threads with very few posts each). I'm sure you'll find the current one below, and in its OP you'll find updated resources and news. If you need to discuss something about the board itself, there's a meta thread to that extent as well.

Password of files where required is generally /sthg/.

>3d's technicalness is a huge hurdle

Agreed, especially if you're trying to be a 1MA. It's no surprise large companies create 3D pipelines where someone does one specific thing

I think that's not the part people refer to, only the posing afterwards. In most cases there are several models you can chose from so you don't need to fiddle with them to make a render. How far along are you? Can you post a render?

File: 2515668765c5bcc⋯.mp4 (14.13 MB, 1280x530, 128:53, Animation tests from cance….mp4)

If I post anymore than I have in the past I might spoil my plans. All I can say is I'm finished with the first character of interest rigging wise, it's just was a far more technical process then I expected. To make it blunt, people think just having "leg bone, spine bones, a bone to control the head, etc" is all you need to make a model work… But it's not. Although I'm not making this model in the intent of it being nude (it's just a base), to make every inch of the body deform and crease correctly in every spot, you either have to do the worst thing ever (weight painting) or you use dummy bones to make only the parts you want to control to work right. I guess I should say it's more tedious then drawing instead of harder, but it's still rather technical if you want a high quality model for movement that's constrained to move like a real human body would.

This doesn't include clothing on top of the rig… which I have to start doing next now. I get I'm a novice here, but I at least get how much practice and talent the professionals did to get to where they are to just make stuff like vid related.

>Vice President of Product Development

Oh wow, is that a new title for Iizuka? Is that for all of Sega or just for Sonic?

>Team Sonic Racing comes out for the expected platforms on 21 May, and might not be the only Sonic game we see in 2019. Perhaps it's a quirk of translation - Iizuka-san speaks Japanese, I don't, so we converse through a very helpful middleman - but he makes a reference to there being Sonic titles, plural, in development right now.

I feel like he was mentioning the same thing he said at the SXSW panel, but on the other hand I can't help but wonder if there was more to the interview than that and he really did imply whatever they're developing is going to come out later this year.

>Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric.

>I didn't really have a lot of control of that project

Who did then?

>post-Mania, I feel the character and the games have really turned a corner towards where we want it all to go

What does that mean for Modern? I hope it doesn't mean more games in the direction of Forces, but then again what else could he mean?

>"It's not a SEGA movie – we're not making it, or anything – and I'm only an advisor, really

Didn't he say in a previous interview that he was supervising the movie? I'm sure I remember him making it sound like he had a lot more control over it before.

>At the end of the day, it's up to the team at Paramount to make something successful

Some new voice actors have emerged for certain characters in Team Sonic Racing. While the game's credits don't say who is who, an anonymous source close to the game's production has thankfully notified TSSZ of the voice actors' roles.

Knuckles has went from

>Travis Willingham

>Dave Mitchell

Omochao and Blaze have went from

>Laura Bailey

>Erica Lindbeck

Omega has went from

>Vic Mignogna

>Aaron LaPlante

Silver has went from

>Quinton Flynn

>Bryce Papenbrook

Zavok has went from

>Travis Willingham

>Patrick Seitz

No word on whether these changes are permanent or exclusive to TSR.

>Who did then?

The devs at Big Red Button, Bob Rafei and Stephen Frost?

Could go anywhere after Mania. By that I hope he means that they'll overhaul the alternate character gameplay in addition to the booster scripting, physics, and general level design philosophies, but they could just as easily double down on the 2.5D route without doing anything meaningful.

Not sure. Maybe he was referring to when Van Robichaux held the reigns during that point in production, but it's long since changed now.

I really missed this storytelling, with actual story interwoven in the action. It feels as if IDW is only action in comparison. The dialogue is great too. Much more interesting! I don't remember if there were any hints as to how the story was supposed to play out in this issue, and I remember when ABT dumped this that I didn't quite grasp it, so it's great seeing how the writer managed to put everything together.

Hello /fast/,

The name's MrLevRocks, Lev for short, and I want to present you with a fan game that a few guys and me have been working on.

I missed the mark making it the first fan game presented here, some anon got that honour, but alas…

Anyways, you might be wondering what Sonic Time Corruption (logo send) is and why I chose to present it here.

For starters, it's just a plain classic-flavour Sonic fan game lead by me. As you can tell from the title, it's got something to do with time and indeed that is the main concept of it. It's similar to Sonic CD in structure, but has some differences in how it plays out.

Story-wise, I can't add much more either, Robotnik stole the Master Emerald, went to a new island of the week called Northwood Island where the Time Stones are, hijinks ensue.

Now as to why I chose to post about it here. You may have noticed, I have yet to mention what actually is done. Don't worry, I'm not coming in empty handed, that'd be rude, but the small team and I lack the capacity to make something of scale. I'm personally an artist myself and what we, what I, am looking for is a programmer that is familiar with the GameMaker Language used in GameMaker Studio (1.4, in our case). I'm looking more for reliability and availability myself, rather than raw skill, but I'll tell you the reason for that next post. As for myself, you can look up my online handle above and easily find accounts of mine, proving that I'm not just bluffing, I too do my part in bringing my vision (technically not mine, but that's a story I don't want to have to type out now, ask if you're interested) to life.

If you're interested, do post here, I'll share my email once I found someone so the private stuff can be discussed in private.

Any fan games out there that have the time travel feature of sonic CD? I always thought it could be done but more elaborated with more changes depending of what you do

I don't think this is the place for that, >>388 is the general fan game discussion thread on this board, from what I can tell.

Anyways, though I'm not sure any of them have object persistence (not from a programming point of view), there's a handful of fan games and hacks that (tried to) have a time travel feature.

-Sonic Time Twisted is the obvious choice, a long-developed fan game that acts as a semi-sequel/successsor to CD. Some say it's great, some say it's awful, I thought it was fine.

-Sonic 2 CD Remix is a hack of S2, I think it was released not too long ago, which also has time travel. In particular, some zones have pasts and futures, but I'm not sure how close to Sonic CD it is.

-Sonic Chrono Adventure, if it needs an introduction, is another fan game that features time travel, though there it's a means to the end, as it's only used to access the "alternative world" or whatever it's called in semi-open games like that. Think Dark World from Zelda on the SNES.

-South Island Warped is another hack. Don't know anything about it, I just saw a video of that once.

Can't list any others I'm afraid. It can be assumed the extra effort needed is what turns fan devs away from implementing time travel in their particular projects, can't say I blame them.

Is anyone else down with this syndrome?

2 posts and 1 image reply omitted. Click reply to view.

Keep in mind, this series was made in 2011.

The heyday of Garry's Mod autistic madness for edgy kids.

The fact that is was intentionally cheap, yet still somewhat endearing, made it worth to watch just for the ridiculousness of it.

And the same guy who made it (BalenaProductions) was already known in the G-Mod and Sonic community for a few old memes and these videos:

That thumbnail change made him look like a sellout.

File: 28c5f25d47da28d⋯.jpg (168.6 KB, 800x500, 8:5, MbYVc.jpg)

The Early ones were ok, him just playing around, and it not going on for too long. But then he kept making them, which wouldn't be so bad if it didn't interfere with his other stuff.

He also was cancelling bigger projects, like Sonic Warped, or Sonic In Jurassic Park, but the Sonic Zombies kept coming and they were getting longer, and his other uploads were just shit posts making fun of Frozen and Sonic Boom and whatever else that he doesn't fancy.

Eventually he kept gaining subscribers that were only there for the Sonic Zombies series and shit posts. Classic Example of pic related.

And the only thing I was looking forward to were Sonic Scared Stupid, and Sonic Christmas specials

That's a pretty good quote.

And the perfect way to sum up the entire "millennial snowflake" ideal of most college graduates today.

I think there's a lot of crossover between viewers of Elsagate videos and these weird GMod videos, i.e., young children with just enough literacy to type in their favorite video game character's name on youtube and click the first result. BalenaProductions is a real person and a genuine fan while Elsagate stuff is computers and pedophiles, but all his videos have laughably high view counts.

Starline's monologue was cool. I feel he's rather starting to accept it and that he's realized it some time ago, as he's been second guessing him since he met him. Maybe Starline second guessing Eggman is what's making him look so bad even if his plan isn't so bad, I mean, even if the virus goes out of control, it's not like he has anything to lose up there. Starline's always feeling so superior, I can't wait until he tries to betray the Eggman and faces the consequences.

I think we should have gotten this issue like 2 weeks ago, so it was kind of inevitable.

Please use it to suggest and discuss changes to the board (such as changes in banners and other special images, board features, or rules), to (eventually) discuss moderation, or any other topic concerning the board.

If you're curious about me, I was on /sthg/ from its creation in 2014 until a few months ago, and now I'm here every day contemplating the fast. I've always been low profile so I've never used a name, and I plan to keep it like that.

Please enjoy the board and let me know if there's anything I can do for you guys.

Something should be done about the halfchan shitposters posting low quality shit. I can spot their posts a mile away, they post one or two sentences that don't contribute anything meaningful. One of the guys who spams gay Shadow posts is also here, I'd like to see them either warned or banned.

>>16805 >>16767 >>16693 >>16695 >>16811 >>16819

Seems like I'm overreacting but better to nip this kind of stuff in the bud.

I know what you mean, but it is a bit exaggerated to go banhappy just because one day a couple of posts were less than stellar. Regarding the guy you mention, he was actually banned some time ago and if he starts acting up again he'll eventually be handed another vacation. Everything will most likely sort itself out, halfchanners don't generally last long here before they get bored and go back.
